Questa tipologia di chips è possibile utilizzarla nei vini bianchi con un contatto consigliato, tra legno e vino, che va dai 30 ai 60 giorni, e dai 30 ai 120 giorni nei vini rossi.
Il periodo ottimale di applicazione nei vini bianchi va dal primo travaso alla fase conclusiva del processo di produzione. Nei vini rossi, invece, è possibile utilizzarlo dopo la fermentazione.
